Have a look at some of the top players who competed at The Capital Classic on March 25-26, 2023. Keep an eye out for these players as they continue to grow through Main Event Basketball events.
Quazier Hines
No Days Off Elite
6th Grade Boys
A forward with high energy. He plays with 100% effort on every play he's in the game, it's truly a pleasure to see. Quazier is very adept at offensive rebounding and finishing the put backs. He needs to continue to develop an outside game but he has the tools to do so, he has the makings to turn into a true future prospect.
Angelo O'Connor
No Days Off Elite
6th Grade Boys
Angelo was arguably the most impressive player we saw all weekend long. Angelo is a heady guard who plays with high confidence and high skill level to match. At his age right now (He's only in 5th grade), he would get an 'A' in every part of the game that matters. He creates his own shots with ease, shooting off the dribble and getting to the cup. Finally, Angelo loves to compete which is his biggest strength at the moment. This young player is definitely a prospect to keep your eyes on for the future.
Xavien Bergh
City Rocks
6th Grade Boys MVP
Xavien Bergh went to work all weekend long, doing it offensively from all over the floor, from deep, mid range, and even bully ball on the inside. Xavien is a strong rebounder, especially on the offensive end of the floor. He seems to have a great feel for the game and that helps him greatly. We are looking forward to watching this years MVP grow as a player.
Caleb Power
Team Takeoff
7th Grade
Caleb is a big bodied forward who is a brute to deal with for opposing players. He is very physical and loves to take and initiate contact. Caleb is a beast on the boards as well, on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Keep an eye out for this young player moving forward.
Houston Shortell
Expressions NY
7th Grade
Houston has a great feel for the games, he is able to see plays develop before the other players on the floor with him. With his strong ball handling and passing skills, he creates havoc on the offensive end dragging defenders and dropping dimes to his teammates. One of our favorite players from the weekend.
Juelz McLean MVP
City Rocks
8th Grade
Juelz McLean was a force on the court during the Capital Classic. He has the all around package as he is able to score and bang inside with big guys and he can also drag them away from the basket with his solid ball handling to get downhill for points as well. McLean lead his City Rocks team to the championship with his skills and high motor. Prospect to watch.
Bless Demand
Team Takeoff
9th Grade
Bless Demand was one of the most impressive players of the entire weekend; a pass first pg who plays at his own pace. Bless was killing opposing defenders with the high ball screen action as well as taking his opponents off the dribble whenever he wanted to. The most impressive skill that Demand displayed was his ability to find a moving teammate at any time the ball is in his hands; he had multiple highlight passes throughout the weekend. Demand has the goods to be a high level college pg.
